Standards governing employee behavior in environmental protection activities

Environmental protection activities

1. Basic attitude

Environmental issues represent one of the most important challenges to be tackled by the company in the performance of its business activities. The company is therefore developing products in a manner that ensures environmental friendliness throughout all stages of each product's life cycle, which consists of production, use, and then disposal.
The company shall comply with all laws, ordinances, and regulations relating to environmental protection.
In carrying out product development, production, and logistics activities, the company gives broad consideration to environmental protection and resource conservation (for example, by introducing resource- and energy-saving production systems, taking measures to control industrial liquid waste, odor, noise, and dust, and using recyclable packaging). At the same time, the company plans to take positive steps to verity its compliance with international environmental standards.

2. Behavior standards

(1) Environmental friendliness
In carrying out product development, production, and logistics activities as an integral part of business activities, officers and employees shall give consideration to such matters as environmental impact, resource conservation, waste reduction, and energy conservation. Each officer and employee shall carry out environmental protection activities in his or her own capacity, for example, by limiting the use of paper and by promoting recycling.
(2) Participation as a member of society
Each officer and employee shall endeavor, as a member of his or her community, to ensure sorted collection and disposal of garbage, water saving, power saving, and the like. In addition, he or she shall play an active role in beatification activities and other similar activities carried out in and around his or her community.
As part of energy-saving activities, officers and employees shall drive automobiles in an environmentally friendly manner, for example, by avoiding unnecessary idling, revving, and sudden acceleration.
(3) Compliance with laws and regulations
Officers and employees shall comply with laws, ordinances, regulations, and the like relating to environmental protection. In the event of a violation or an accident, officers and employees shall immediately report it to their superiors or the divisions concerned.
In response to such a report, the divisions concerned shall submit the statutorily required report or notification to the competent public agencies (including local governments) without delay.
The company shall urge service providers on the company's premises as well as business partners to ensure strict compliance with laws and regulations.
