State of inclusion in the ESG investment indexes

As criteria to measure corporate value, there has been a growing emphasis in recent years on ESG investment, which is to invest in companies in consideration of environmental and social aspects, and from the aspect of governance, rather than just based on results and financial indicators, such as a company's profitability. Our company, after being assessed by external assessment bodies, was selected as a component of major ESG investment-related indexes. Extracting the gaps from analysis in the assessments, we have developed the points for improvement in each departments' activities.

FTSE4Good Index Series

This is a series of indexes developed by FTSE Russell, designed to measure the performance of companies that take excellent measures in terms of ESG. Our company has been selected for this index for eight consecutive years.

FTSE Blossom Japan Index

This is an index developed by FTSE Russell, designed to measure the performance of Japanese companies that take excellent measures in terms of ESG. Our company has been selected for this index for seven consecutive years.

FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index

This is an index constructed by FTSE Russell and designed as a sector-neutral benchmark that reflects the relative performance of Japanese companies demonstrating strong environmental, social and governance practices (ESG) in each sector. To support the transition to a low carbon economy, companies with especially large greenhouse gas emissions are only adopted if their improvement efforts are highly rated according to the management quality score of the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI). Our company has been selected for this index for two consecutive years.

MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes

These are indexes developed by MSCI Inc. of the U.S. and designed to select companies with high ESG ratings relative to their sector peers, targeting large- and mid-cap segments of the MSCI's global market indexes. Our company has been selected as their constituent for three consecutive years, and also maintains the highest AAA rating on a seven-point grade scale in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment (as of September, 2023).

MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index

This is an index constructed through MSCI Inc.'s selection of companies with excellent assessment of ESG from the top 700 components of MSCI Japan IMI.Our company has been adopted for seven consecutive years.

S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index

This is an index comprising components of the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX), a representative index indicating Japanese market trends. In this index, the weight of each component is decided according to the company's environment-related information disclosure status and its level of carbon efficiency. Our company is also included in this index.

SOMPO Sustainability Index

This is an index utilized for SOMPO Sustainable Management by Sompo Asset Management Co., Ltd. Its components are adopted in pension funds and are chosen by institutional investors. Our company has been selected as a component of this index for four consecutive years.

iSTOXX MUTB Japan Platinum Career 150 Index

This index, which was developed jointly by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and STOXX, an index provider affiliated with Deutsche Börse AG, is comprised of 150 domestic companies that are active in building the careers of their employees. Our company has been selected for this index.

Selected for Inclusion in The Sustainability Yearbook by S&P Global as a "Yearbook Member"

S&P Global evaluates the initiatives of companies across the world in economic, environmental and social aspects, and selects those excelling in sustainability for inclusion in the Sustainability Yearbook. For the Sustainability Yearbook 2023, our company has been selected as a "Yearbook Member."

Listed as Asia‐Pacific Climate Leaders

Our company was selected as one of 275 companies with outstanding achievements in tackling climate change in the "Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders" survey conducted jointly by Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the Financial Times, and the research firm Statista.

Our company and its Group companies have received recognition as a "2024 Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization" by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi as companies that practice employee health management from a management perspective. "Kurumin"/"Platinum Kurumin" Certification

Our company, obtained "Kurumin" Certification from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in 2012 as a company that achieved the planned target and met certain standards among companies that formulated an action plan to support employees for their child-rearing based on the Law on the Promotion of Measures to Support Development of the Next Generation. In addition, we acquired the certification of "Platinum Kurumin" in September 2020 as a specially certified company that is working at a high level.

A Gifu work-life balance excellent company

Our company was certified as a Gifu work-life balance excellent company in March 2018 as a company that takes an especially excellent family-life and work balance and a unique approach, which can be a model for other companies.

ESG/Social Responsibility-Related Audits

We respond to observance of the code of conduct of the industry and ESG/Social Responsibility-related audits conducted by third-party organizations based on customer requirements. During audits, a gap analysis is conducted on the difference between industry standards and the Company's current efforts, and issues that need to be addressed are identified. We take seriously the issues pointed out during these audits and make improvements by analyzing the causes and implementing corrective actions as well as preventive measures. Furthermore, we are working toward creating a system that meets industry standards by improving upon these issues.

We periodically undergo formal audits by the industry coalition RBA at our bases mainly for the Electronics Operation. We make immediate improvements to the issues pointed out, and the improvements have been verified by the RBA. Currently, there are no identified priority nonconformities for which we are required to take immediate corrective action. (as of September, 2023)
To maintain the current favorable compliance rates, we will promote a daily inspection and operational improvement cycle. Also, we will enhance the reliability of our ESG activities after verifying the effectiveness of our company's activities by receiving external audits continuously.
