Environmental Basic Policy (July 16th, 2024, eleventh edition)

Based on the IBIDEN WAY and the Environmental Vision 2050, we will continuously strive to reduce our environmental impact through the active participation of all employees, aiming to achieve harmony between the rich global environment and society for future generations.

Environmental Policy

  1. We will actively promote the development of carbon-free technologies and the use of renewable energy in order to realize a carbon-free society.
  2. We will achieve carbon neutrality throughout the entire product life cycle, including research and development, procurement, production, transportation, and disposal, and contribute to conservation of the global environment, including biodiversity.
  3. We will minimize our use of energy, water, and resources and work to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste in order to create a recycling-oriented society.
  4. We will comply with domestic and international environmental laws and regulations. Also set our own standards and strive to improve our management level, including the reduction of hazardous chemical substances.
  5. We will ensure that each employee understands our environmental policy by operating our environmental management system, and make continuous improvement toward realizing our environmental objectives and targets.
  6. We will release this environmental policy to the public and work in cooperation with our customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

President& CEO

Organization of Environmental Management

Grounded in values that emphasize harmony with the global environment, we are working group-wide to promote environmental management. We have established a company-wide environmental management system with the President& CEO serving as the head of the system. We have also set up a Company-wide Environment Committee, which is responsible for environmental safety and health across the company, with the executive officer in charge of Strategic Manufacturing Operation serving as the chairperson. For each plant, we have established a Plant Environment Committee presided over by the plant Manager. For employees, when employees join our company, we educate them about the impact that our business activities have on the environment, and through circle activities on workplace safety and health, we inform them of matters determined in the Committee and provide education regarding environmental preservation through circle activities on workplace safety and health. In addition, through meetings organized by environmental protection promoters who are designated by each operational division, the global environmental meetings jointly held with major overseas production bases, and the energy conservation meetings attended by energy conservation promoters of each division, we engage in Group-wide information sharing regarding environmental protection.

Compliance with Environment-related Laws and Regulations

The IBIDEN Group deals with many chemicals at many of its plants, some of which are adjacent to residential areas. Issues such as air pollution, wastewater, and noise pollution therefore require our special attention. The Group sets voluntary standards equivalent to national and local government standards, or strict standards, for activities and operations that may have a significant environmental impact from the perspectives of prevention of pollution and conservation of nature, and regularly measures and monitors the compliance status (see "Environmental Data for Individual Plants and Group Companies").With the twin aims of zero cases of violation of air pollution, wastewater, and noise pollution and zero complaints from residents, when emissions that violate the voluntary standards for environmental measurement occur, we immediately take corrective measures.
In FY2023, we did not confirm any environment-related recommendations for correction from the supervisory authorities, any chemical disasters, including chemical leakages, that woulld have a serious impact on the external environment, or any penalties or sanctions for violations of environment-related laws, regulations or rules.
